- I find it very sad to hear how the suffering in Zimbabwe continues. How long before South Africa, which has the power to change things, demands that Mugabe and the wealthy elite surrounding him are dismissed from power?

- I was watching the debate from Australia where i live. It is very interesting and I was not bored. McCain keeps on saying how his judgement is the better one to lead the country, how he has command ability etc. AND YET how could he allow his party to choose Palin as his 2nd in command.

- Lets hope this mill never goes ahead. It now looks asif it may not due to lack of finances (one good result of the world debt crisis) and the EIS that the federal government must sign off on.

- Lets see the detail before we celebrate. I hope that Morgan T. has not let Mugabe and his henchmen have any control of the army or police in Zimbabwe. Otherwise it will be business as usual.

- Most interesting. South Africa is such a beautiful country but the challenge of poverty continues. Last week, I asked someone from Johannesburg what the going rate for a house maid was. About 5 years ago it was R2,000 (about USD 300) a month for a live-in person.

- In South Australia we are in our 2nd year of drought. Bearing in mind that we are the driest state in the driest continent in the world, that is saying something. Our winter rains have failed again. Discussions about water are popular amongst people at casual meetings.
